Service families at Victoria Barracks in Central London, are able to put their culinary skills to good use after CarillionAmey recently completed an 18 month project to replace 145 old kitchens with brand new ones as part of a major refurbishment programme. Each kitchen has been updated with new units and worktops, sinks, taps and cookers along with new electrical sockets.
The new kitchens now provide families with a comfortable, safe and homely space with easy to clean worktops and plenty of storage space. New electric points mean that the kitchens now allow for modern appliances, and the layout offers a more bright and airy space in which to prepare meals.
Mrs Oliver lives at Victoria Barracks and is delighted with her new kitchen "We are so pleased with our kitchen installation. The engineers were very accommodating and gave us the opportunity to choose the location of the ceiling light and allowed us to replace the space for a tumble dryer with another cabinet. With a toddler and a new born baby, my kitchen is perfect for all our needs".
Alex Pollock, CarillionAmey's Area Contract Manager added "These improvements will enhance the living standards of Service families at Victoria Barracks. They are bright, modern and airy and perfectly suited to modern day living".
New electric showers and boilers have also been installed in a number of properties on the estate as part of a separate programme of work around heating and hot water efficiency.
Separately, a £1m project will start later this year on a new central plant and boiler room at the Barracks which aims to tackle the issue of heating breakdowns.
