Improving the Additional Needs and Disabled Adaptation Process

Improving the Additional Needs and Disabled Adaptation Process

It's important for the Defence Housing Service to constantly look at how it can improve.  For those families whose family member needs adaptations to a Service Family home it's essential that we are able to provide them with properties that meet their needs. When work is required either for a property they are due to move into or more adaptations are needed in their current property we need to get work done in a timely fashion.

Feedback from families and their representatives showed that collectively, CarillionAmey and DIO's processes for funding approvals for adaptations were not working effectively, process was hampering progress.  Recently, effective collaboration between the two organisations' commercial teams has led to essential improvements. Funds are now being freed up more easily catering to those families who need adaptations, making sure that when adaptations are needed they can go ahead faster.

This new improved process will be of benefit to most families but for some whose needs are exceptional where their properties require extensive work e.g. lifts or major structural work, the very nature of the work will prevent swift turnaround times.  However, if you are ever concerned about any issue surrounding adaptations please contact the CarillionAmey Helpdesk on 0800 707 6000, view our new infographics at www.carillionamey.co.uk  or if you are able to visit someone in person, call into one of our Local Customer Service centres, for details see  Local Customer Service Centres
