Creating lighter, brighter homes

We all know that lighter and brighter homes are good for you; improving your mood, energy and well-being.  As and when additional funding becomes available from the MOD for home improvement projects, CarillionAmey works to improve natural light through the use of bright modern materials, and make homes brighter outside when we improve their energy efficiency.

Working within the structure of existing service family housing, we try as much as possible to make any new kitchens and bathrooms lighter and brighter. Externally, we brighten up exterior walls through our work on external insulation projects. We know that there is much remaining to be done and with ongoing funding, we plan to keep working on this important improvement work.

A good example of recent work is the addition of new kitchens to Service family homes at Victoria Barracks in London. The kitchens have new, easy to clean work tops, plenty of storage space and offer a brighter and airy space in which to prepare meals.  In the past year, CarillionAmey installed 873 new kitchens, 215 new bathrooms and completed external wall insulation projects on 341 homes.

Every year, more service family homes are being improved, helping families to have more enjoyable, more comfortable space in which to live.  Our ongoing improvement programme on behalf of MOD continues, with work taking place in August 2016 at Worthy Down in Winchester, where 22 properties will benefit from external wall insulation and new kitchens and boilers.
