Creating better and brighter homes for UK's Service families

CarillionAmey is very aware that the age and condition of Service Family Accommodation varies enormously and keeping on top of issues such as damp, cold and mould is a challenge. We know that many families have been unhappy with aspects of their SFA.

As part of our Housing improvement plan, we're focusing on pre-fabricated properties that were built more than 60 years ago. To date, we've refurbished 340 properties located in the southern, central and northern areas of the country. Each property has benefitted from double glazing, external wall insulation, new soffits, fascias and guttering and we have installed waterproof systems to flat roofs, outhouse and extensions. Where required, we've also fitted brand new boilers.

Mrs Adams, who lives with her family at RAF Brize Norton said "I'd really like to thank everyone involved with the refurbishment of my property. Our house is a lot brighter, warmer and a much nicer place to live in. We couldn't be more pleased".

Blandford Garrison Welfare Officer, Tam Tulloch stated:"Thanks to the hard work of the CarillionAmey project team the external wall insulation project has been an unparalleled success, transforming these soldiers' properties.  Along with the further funding for the new kitchens and roofs this financial year, this truly demonstrates the tremendous commitment that DIO has shown to meet their own targets for better housing for our Serving Personnel and their families and we will reap the benefits for many years to come".

A further 163 properties have already been identified for refurbishment around the country and this work will be completed over the next 12 months. We're making progress and we know that there's much more to do.

Alex Pollock, Area Contracts Manager for the South East, at CarillionAmey said "The refurbishment programme benefits families through a marked reduction in their annual heating and fuel bills whilst providing more modern, bright and environmentally friendly accommodation".
